Here's What's Happening this Weekend:


  • Saturday May 15 - Come Learn some History at the "KNOW YOUR CITY TOUR"Learn fascinating and little-known facts about St. Augustine on two tours conducted by local historian David Nolan.  Sponsored by Citizens for the Preservation of St. Augustine and held in recognition of National Preservation Month, the tours will include the city's "streetcar suburbs" from more than a century ago, old plantations that are now subdivisions, hidden hotels from the Flagler era and much more.  Plus, the tours will look at endangered properties in need of preservation.  The tours take place at 9:30 a.m. and noon and depart from The Old Jail Museum, 167 San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine.  Tickets are $15 each and advance reservations are required.  To reserve a seat on these special tours, call 904.808.1886.

  • Saturday May 15 - HISTORIC GARDENING AT FORT MOSE
    Come learn the gardening techniques that residents of Fort Mose would have used more than 270 years ago and how they still apply today.  This program takes place at 1 p.m. and is free with the regular park entrance fee of $4 per vehicle or $2 for individuals who bicycle, walk, or ride the trolley. The event is weather permitting. Fort Mose is located of U.S. 1 North on 15 Fort Mose Trail in St. Augustine. For more information, call 904.823.2232

  • Canon Firing at the Castillo de San Marcos - (downtown St. Augustine)

Come experience a little piece of history as the cannons are fired every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year. Saturday and Sunday Indian re-enactors will present interpretations, displays and weapons demonstrations.

    • Kayaking and Dolphins 


      Marineland and the University of Florida's Whitney Lab along with Ripple Effect Ecotours will offer ecological kayak tours circumnavigating Jordon Island. Enjoy the panoramas of the Pellicer Creek, the Princess Place Preserve and Faver-Dykes State Park. A paddling clinic is offered at the beginning of each tour and no experience is needed. The cost is $50 per person, (ages six and older), which includes the tour, photos and admission into Marineland Dolphin Conservation Center. Call for reservations and more information.

    Sunday, May 16 - TASTE OF THE BEACH
    Take a nibble from the signature dishes from more than 20 of the finest restaurants in St. Augustine Beach at this annual 'taste-fest".  The crowd and judges get to pick the coveted "Best of the Beach" restaurant at the end of the evening.  Performing artist Kenya will entertain the crowd with an interactive performance featuring a variety of musical instruments.  Admission is free and taste tickets sell for $1 each.  The Taste of St. Augustine Beach takes place from noon to 6 p.m. at St. Augustine Beach Park Pier Pavilion located at 350 A1A Beach Blvd.  For more information, call 904.347.8007

    Lots of Free Entertainment this Weekend


    Friday - May 7

    FIRST FRIDAY ART WALKEnjoy the latest exhibits, music, entertainment and refreshments at more than 20 participating St. Augustine galleries. Tours begin at Rembrandtz American Craft Gallery, 131 King Street.  Galleries are open from 5 to 9 p.m.  St. Augustine Sightseeing Trains and Old Town Trolleys offer attendees a complimentary shuttle service to most of the galleries.  Shuttles run on a continuous loop every 30 minutes.  
     
    ANASTASIA STATE PARK HISTORY PROGRAM
    Join Park Ranger Stephen Carter for a fun and informative program about the park's history. Meet at the Windsurf Pavilion at 7 p.m. Admission to the park is $8 per vehicle, up to 8 people, $4 for single occupant admission, and $2 for pedestrians and bicyclists.  Anastasia State Park is located on A1A on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine. 
     
    NIGHTOWL CINEMA AT ST. AUGUSTINE AMPHITHEATRESee the movie Rocky at the beautiful St. Augustine Amphitheatre-for free! Showtime is 8 p.m. and concessions are available.
